NKOTB: Miamist
The Gothamist crew takes its travelling blogshow to their 14th city today, with the launch of the South Beach yellowy Miamist. If you didn’t guess, the site focuses on Miami, just in time for the arrival of Hurricane Wilma. Of course, we called this back in July 2005. Sadly there aren’t any online bookies taking blog-related bets at present, and once again our preiscience goes unrewarded.

Miamist is edited by Rachael Bohrer and J.R. Biersmith, whose bios are absent from the About page (I’m guessing the site went live a few days early to provide some first-hand Wilma coverage–and hey, who are we to critique some beta-ness in a launch). As you’d expect, the first day’s posts are all Wilma-related, providing another citizen media look at what it’s like to have a hurricane visit your town. But looking at some pre-launch posts, it looks like the Miamist will bring us plenty of sports coverage (similar to many of the other -ist properties). We’re looking forward to the Miamist Shaq interview, coming to a podcast near you soon.
Along with Miamist, the -ist folks (a.k.a. Gothamist LLC) also launched a shiny little corporate site today, for all your Press, Advertising, and general Business-related needs. Or just to drop by and tell Jake Dobkin you think he’s dreamy.
God bless you, Gothamist.
