The GR8 Life: A Diary of Nate “The GR8″ Robinson’s rookie NBA season

The folks over at MSNBC have teamed with Nate Robinson of the NBA’s New York Knicks to launch a new blog entitled, The GR8 Life. As a geek, I love this site for two reasons:

1.) Unlike so many of the NBA’s “official” blogs, it has an RSS feed (with FULL post content, no less).
2.) It is the most beautiful TypePad site I have ever laid eyes on. Totally seamless, you’d never even know it was hosted by TypePad, were it not for the TrackBack URLs.

For those of you concerned with more than RSS and blog platforms–I will admit, the site’s writing does leave a little to be desired. So far Nate Robinson as a blogger, while charming and interesting enough, is no Paul Shirley. (Shirley was rode the bench and blogged for the Phoenix Suns last season–and temporarily surpassed Bill Simmons as the #1 MUST-READ for any wired sportsfan.)

The GR8 Life makes a moderately-interesting read for any sports or blogging fan, because it does give you some insight into the unique experience of being a rookie who’s actually getting PT in the NBA. In one of his first posts, Nate provides a first-hand account of his game-winning buzzer beater against the Sixers–something you were definitely not going to get with Paul Shirley. But if Nate were allowed to pull back the curtain just a little bit more, to give us some REAL insight (how does a 21 year old really celebrate in NYC after hitting a buzzer beater against Iverson?), The GR8 Life could be the stuff of legend.
