NYT features Rocketboom, squeezes in the phrase “flash mobs of robots”
Rocketboom got New York Times attention today for Amanda Congdon’s “quirky, charming persona” and “inventive take on the news” matched with Andrew Baron’s prescience. The piece highlights a lucrative syndication deal:
TiVo, which can now be used to watch Web video on home television sets, just signed a deal to list Rocketboom in the TiVo directory - making it as easy to record as conventional television programs like “60 Minutes” and “Monday Night Football.” Giving up no creative control, Ms. Congdon and Mr. Baron will get 50 percent of the revenue from ads sold by TiVo to appear before and after their newscast, and their show will gain access to more than 300,000 TV sets connected to those new TiVo boxes.
But it manages to link to four NYT pages, three external sites, and not to Rocketboom itself. To make Blogebrity’s link draw as much Rocketboom traffic as a Times link would, please start clicking it now and repeat until June.
The article also reminds us all that Congdon is 24, which means she’s out of your league and in mine, if you disregard things like beauty, wit, and fame.

I wonder how long it might be before someone actually options it as an actual television show.

Well, considering that Blogebrity was approached about a possible TV spinoff after 40 words worth of Time Magazine coverage, something tells me Amanda & Rocketboom are probably already in advanced-stage talks about a Rocketboom TV show.
