Blogger SMACKDOWN!!! : playground remix

blue_steel.jpg
Spinachdip, aka the New American Hero, digs deep into a star-crossed feud between two of NYC’s more infamous (and disturbingly omnipresent) bloggers : BVan versus BJake.

Oh, it’s on.

In the Chronicles of a Pissing Match, SpiDip outlines the innocuous birth* of the brewing boyfight: a lighthearted jab from Choire Sicha on Friday, December 23rd, 2005.

I submit that the oxymoron of 2005 is “Gothamist reports.”

(Narrates? Recites? Chronicles? Tells? Relates? Conveys? Imparts? Transmits? Sure!)

January 7th: Gothamist reprints a reader email and tacks on, tongue-in-cheek, “So, there, we’ve reported something.”

The semantically-minded BVan pipes up with “No, that’s still not ‘reporting’. More like, ‘relaying’.”

and then, and then, and then! BJake loses his shit.

…and to brian van: fuck that. we report all the time…talking about stuff that we heard from the media? that’s what you think bloggers do? that’s idiotic– and if it didn’t violate our comment policy, i’d go as far as to suggest the person who made the comment was an idiot.[emphasis mine, all mine]

Oh, oh no, he didn’t! Oh, yes, yes he did. Read the exhaustive tale in it’s entirety here. As always, taking a scalding hot shower with tomato juice to remove all traces of blog-gossip stank is recommended.

*though this little blogger is under the impression that shit started going awry about the time Lindsay broke bad on bad boy photobloggers and gothamist used its editorial integrity (*COUGH!!!!! COUGH!!!!!) to (defensively) respond (on BJake’s behalf) and unfairly deflect this bullet onto kindler, gentler snapshooters like BVan. I cry foul.
